APEX Multi-Flex Metal Detector
Settable Single Frequencies 5, 10, 15 and 20 kHz
Brand Garrett

Based on the innovative Multi-Flex simultaneous multi-frequency technology, the GARRETT ACE APEX Wireless offers performances unimaginable until now for detectors in its price range. More depth, more reactivity, more versatility and an incredible ability to discriminate and manage the most difficult terrain.

In the special Wireless package, it also includes the Garrett MS-3 Z-Lynk wireless headphones, with perfect audio without delays.

Choose from 4 powerful single frequencies (5, 10, 15 and 20 kHz) to improve detection on specific targets or select one of APEX's simultaneous multi-frequency modes to achieve excellent detection with great depth and responsiveness on all target types and land.
APEX also features the MULTI-SALT multifrequency mode, optimized for searching in salt water for maximum operating power even on the shoreline or with the plate submerged.
Assembled with a fully submersible 6 ”x11” DD VIPER plate and equipped with a rain-proof backlit display. The main feature of ACE APEX is lightness. In the ""ultra-light"" segment 1.13 kg is among the lightest metal detectors available on the world market today.

Details:

What are the characteristics of the Simultaneous Multifrequency?
For Simultaneous Multifrequency we mean the CONTEMPORARY transmission, reception and analysis of 2 or more operating frequencies by the metal detector.
Unlike the Sequential Multifrequency, which transmits, receives and analyzes 2 or more frequencies but one after the other in rotation, the Simultaneous Multifrequency is much faster and more reactive in the processing of the various signals, managing to analyze them at the same time.

Simultaneous Multifrequency systems, such as the APEX Garrett Multi-Flex, therefore allow you to analyze targets with a large number of frequencies, thus ensuring better identification of objects and more effective elimination of disturbances related to soil mineralization.

The advantages of Multifrequency on metal detectors
Let's find out all the advantages of the frequency change on the new generation metal detectors; first of all let's start with a brief technical explanation.

The VLF / IB (Very Low Frequency / Induction Balance) technology on which the brand new GARRETT APEX is based, for example, is characterized, based on the physical laws of electromagnetic induction, by giving different signal responses depending on the frequencies used. to the various types of metals and soils that are hit by the electromagnetic field generated by the detector.

Simplifying:

LOW frequencies give more intense responses with metal objects with high electrical conductivity (eg bronze, copper and silver), especially if not too small / thin and in soils with more intense mineralization.
In fact, in these soils the lower frequencies are able to penetrate deeper.
However, they are more disturbed by any external electromagnetic interference such as those produced by high voltage pylons, repeaters, electric generators etc.

HIGH frequencies instead give more intense responses with metal objects with lower conductivity (eg aluminum, nickel, steel) and are very sensitive to small / thin objects (thanks to Lenz's Physical Law) and are more suitable on low mineralized soils.
They are also less susceptible to the electromagnetic interference I mentioned earlier.

INTERMEDIATE frequencies are often a good compromise between HIGH and LOW frequencies with their relative advantages and disadvantages.
For example, GARRETT's APEX metal detector has 6 operating modes that deal with frequencies:

- With Single Frequency selectable at 5-10-15-20 kHz.
Selecting one of these allows you to concentrate maximum energy on a single frequency to optimize the search on particular targets or particular terrains.

- With Multi-Frequency Simultaneous MULTI-FLEX, not only the 4 frequencies indicated above, but also many other frequencies are transmitted, received and analyzed SIMULTANEOUSLY.
In this case the machine will have a better ability to identify the various types of targets in different metals, being able to analyze them simultaneously with multiple frequencies and will be able to automatically manage the different types of soils with various mineralizations.
The downside is a slight loss of depth due to the fact that part of the energy used is lost in multiple simultaneous transmission. It should be said that the use of the Simultaneous MultiFrequency favors versatility and adaptability in the most disparate conditions with respect to the ""raw power"" of mono-frequencies.

- With Simultaneous MultiFrequency MULTI-FLEX-SALT (""SALE""), substantially very similar to the previous one but optimized for the use of APEX in the presence of salt water (conductive). This mode is the best to search on the sea shore or with the plate directly immersed in salt water (it should be remembered that it is not possible to completely submerge APEX as its control box is not underwater but can only withstand driving rain).

In conclusion, as you may have guessed, knowing the characteristics of the terrain and the targets you want to look for will help us choose the most performing frequency ever for our detector. In case of doubt or uncertainty, it is possible, with multifrequency machines such as APEX, to choose this detection mode, leaving the instrument with the task of analyzing the various targets detected with multiple frequencies and offering us the best possible result.
